Masculina: Give the Girl a Gun

On the opening night of Copenhagen Fashion Week, Submission joined Alectra Rothschild and her brand Masculina for an explosive tour de force. The FW25 show, titled Give the Girl a Gun, confronted the challenges and resilience of being a trans person in today’s society. The show embodied femme and trans rage, empowerment, and celebrated individuality and the act of taking back autonomy. With (blunt) force. 

There is an attack happening - and the girls of Masculina are fighting back.

“I looked at ways of slashing a garment, the way a garment falls off the body… A lot of the collection incorporates quite harsh elements, garments that have been ripped off the body, and are broken. And I’ve looked at a lot of assassins, their masks, their need to be able to move around and how to be strong enough to protect yourself. It’s a very angry and sad collection, but my hope is that it’s also empowering - taking autonomy back. The girls are going out on the runway fighting.”- Alectra Rothschild, Masculina designer

The girls are battle vixens and the glam is turned up to full volume but there’s a twist: they are all bruised, battered and scarred. These are fierce warriors who carry themselves strongly, yet there are hints of the constant battle they go through.”

“The looks were unapologetically glam: 
Submission Balm Shiny played a key role in adding high gloss on smokey eyes and lips. The other eye look had a heavy coat of the multifunctional Highlighter Lucid, lightening the lid while also setting a pressed layer of Glitter Dusted Silver. We also sprinkled Glitter Dusted Bronze for a bruised effect on different parts of the body and face, adding an unexpected touch of glam to something otherwise so severe.
