Mind the gap
Inspired by the 1987 documentary short “Gap-Toothed Women”, directed by Les Blank, photographer Nate Margolis teams up with stylist Ashly Tsao to explore a novel take on the mysterious beauty of women with gap teeth. Some cultures consider it a sign of increased fertility and this small biological irregularity can even mean a quick ascension to higher status in others. The women in the movie all have in common that they did not feel charming enough with their imperfect teeth growing up – but we beg to differ. Isn’t there in fact something quite uniquely beautiful about this? At Submission Beauty, we for one always applaud individual and unique beauty.
