“The bestselling Submission Glitter has been the pride and joy of our beauty lineup for years. We love the way our glitter is a bright, colorful way to show the world that all-natural clean and plastic-free beauty can also be incredibly fun and playful. With Dusted Glitters, we’re adding a reimagined version to the family, a finer, versatile and elegant sparkle in 3 metallic colors. It’s so beautiful, with a different bolder shine - and I can’t wait to see how our community is going to play with it.”

Today, Submission Beauty debuts a long-awaited addition to our plastic-free, plant-based beauty lineup: Dusted Glitters. The Dusted collection takes the best features of our larger format glitters—soft on the skin, brilliantly reflective, derived from eucalyptus and meeting the highest standards of freshwater biodegradability—and reimagines them with a finer, delicate consistency, unlocking a whole new range of shimmering possibilities.
Available in a select range of gold, silver and bronze, our Dusted Glitter applies more like a pigment than its larger-pieced predecessor, blending smoothly into the skin and enhancing it with a dynamic sparkle.
The timing of this launch is on point too: it’s been exactly a year since the European Union's landmark decision to ban all plastic glitters from beauty, crafts and everyday life, as part of a plan to reduce all microplastics in the region by 30% by 2030.
While others in the beauty industry are still catching up, Submission is doing our business as usual. Old school beauty giants others are being forced (hurray!) to keep up with the change, altering a major part of their products to accommodate this new direction. Submission simply continues what we’ve been doing since day one and are doubling down on our commitment to offer the best 100% plastic-free beauty around.
Need a reminder on why microplastics in makeup are so detrimental to our planet?
Conventional glitter gets its shine from plastic. After it is washed off our bodies, glitter goes directly into our waterways. The micro- and nano-plastic particles from traditional glitter are so small, wastewater treatment facilities are unable to filter them from the water. Because of this, they end up in the ocean where they further break down into even smaller plastics that are eventually consumed by ocean wildlife and make their way up through the food chain, even making their way back into our diets through water and the food we consume. In the last few years, scientists have discovered microplastics in everything from fetuses, our organs and blood and most recently, we now know that we even have microplastics in our brains. Having microplastics in our bodies have been known to cause a variety of maladies, such as cancers, reproductive issues and several neurological disorders.
Unlike plastic glitter, our glitter is not a scourge on the environment—once it is washed off the body and comes in contact with bacteria and microorganisms in natural waterways, it quickly breaks down into harmless substances, earning it the highest level of independent certification for fresh water biodegradability in the world.
As with all of our products, the new Dusted Glitters come in Zero-plastic packaging and shipping materials.

“Having organic or plant-derived ingredients is second-nature for many beauty brands at this point. But claiming a product is clean or sustainable when it comes in single-use plastic packaging is disingenuous, and totally misses the bigger picture. We’re focused on the total impact our products have on the consumer and the ecosystem, and that means evaluating every stage of the product’s lifecycle, especially those that the public doesn’t see.”
