Where the Wild Ones Glow: Submission at Roskilde
There’s something different in the dirt at Roskilde Festival. Maybe it’s the radical spirit of the youth scene. Maybe it’s the way sweat, basslines, and a deep sense of community bleed together in the orange glow. Or maybe it’s just the magic of a place where inclusion isn’t a buzzword - it’s baked into the very soil. Submission Beauty returned to Roskilde this summer: to celebrate individuality and inject biodegradable sparkle into the chaos.

From doing makeup for powerhouse performers like Yaeger, Annahstasia, and dj g2g, to launching a limited-edition Roskilde-orange version of our iconic glitter, to running a pop-up store steps from the stages - we came, we painted, we partied. And above all, we connected. Here's why Roskilde isn't just another festival - and why we keep coming back.

Roskilde isn’t your average festival. What you find here is something quite rare: a culture that prioritizes values over vanity and a deep love for music. That’s exactly why Submission Beauty returned to the Roskilde Festival grounds this summer - to share our mission: creativity, accountability, and sustainability.
Our presence this year was bigger, bolder, and brighter. Literally. We teamed up with the festival to create a limited-edition version of our biodegradable and zero-plastic glitter in Roskilde’s unmistakable orange. In it’s own way, the Submission Beauty x Roskilde Festival Glitter Orange became a symbol of something shared: a belief that beauty should be expressive, inclusive, and kind to the planet.

At our pop-up store, we invited guests to get up close and personal with Submission. It wasn’t just about product - it was about process. We saw sweaty, euphoric faces light up with shimmer. We saw best friends matching their glitter to their outfits, and strangers becoming friends at the mirror station. It was beautiful, it was honest, it was real.
We also got the honor of collaborating with three artists who embody the kind of fearless self-expression we live for. Swedish pop star Yaeger brought energy to the stage in an explosive stormy closing down of the festival's first night, and let us amplify that with a high-impact, otherworldly pirate-inspired look. Rising soul goddess Annahstasia shimmered in a bronze moment that highlighted her strength and softness in equal measure. And for dj g2g, whose high-octane set turned the crowd into a collective vibration in Dusted Silver, we pulled out all the stops - serving face that screamed unapologetic joy.

“Glitter has no gender, just like beauty has no rulebook. At Submission, we believe that self-expression should reflect the full spectrum - magical and unapologetically diverse. Roskilde Festival shares our ethos: party with purpose, leave no trace, everybody’s welcome, you are love.
- Zenia Jaeger, founder of Submission Beauty
At its core, Submission Beauty believes that sustainability doesn’t have to be sterile, and inclusivity doesn’t have to be performative. Where you can look however you want, love whoever you want, and move through the world with power - all while covered in a sparkle that is all of the fun, none of the guilt.
This isn’t our first year at Roskilde, but it may be our favorite yet. We’ve always felt aligned with the festival’s values — its nonprofit structure, its radical programming, its focus on youth and global issues. But this year, the connection felt even deeper. In a world that often asks you to shrink to fit, Roskilde - like Submission - insists that you expand.
So yes, we came for the music. But we stayed for the people. The politics. The potential. The play. And while we might still be shaking the dust off our boots, we’re already dreaming of next year.
