Submission Beauty™ Balm Shiny is a multifunctional plant-based balm intended for all skin types. It can be used as an eye and lip gloss, as a highlighter, and to set Submission’s biodegradable glitter. Lightly scented with natural essential oils of blood orange, bergamot and vanilla, Balm Shiny provides the ultimate soft shine, and helps to hydrate and soothe dry skin. The formula’s carefully selected ingredients include shea butter and almond and jojoba oils, promoting a healthy glow, and the balm is also rich in antioxidants and vitamins A and E. As with all Submission products, Balm Shiny is delivered in zero-plastic packaging and shipping materials, preventing toxic plastic from leaching into the product, the body, and the environment.

Submission Beauty™ glitter is zero-plastic and 100% free from antimony and aluminum. We’ve replaced the plastic base used in standard glitter with a base made with cellulose from eucalyptus trees. This plant-based material creates a unique iridescent effect without the use of toxic ingredients, giving the product a more sophisticated aesthetic and a broader range of applications than plastic glitter. Plus, it feels 40% softer on the skin and scalp.

Unlike plastic glitter, our glitter is not a scourge on the environment—once it is washed off the body, hair and clothing and comes in contact with bacteria and microorganisms in natural waterways, it quickly breaks down into harmless substances, earning it the highest level of independent certification for fresh water biodegradability in the world.

How to apply

To use Balm Shiny to set Submission Glitter, apply a layer of balm to the area where you wish to create your look. Next, apply your glitter with a brush—the glitter will naturally adhere to the skin where the balm has been applied—and use a tapered brush for more precise details. Gently activate our multifunctional balm with the fingertips or using a brush. To use Balm Shiny on its own, apply to lips and eyelids for high gloss, apply to cheekbones for a healthy radiance, or smooth into dry skin.

Submission Glitter can be applied with the fingers, or using a makeup brush. Completely free of aluminum, our glitter is bleed resistant and even the red shades are FDA-approved for use around the eyes. It is also suitable for the body as well as for water-based applications, soaps, oils, and more.

Environmental benefits

• As a rule of thumb, Submission believes that what’s harmful to the body is often harmful to the environment as well. That is why our balms are vegan and made from natural and plant-derived ingredients in order to avoid toxins leaching into our personal and shared ecosystems. Additionally, our zero-plastic containers consist of a glass base and tin cap, and are delivered in zero-plastic packaging and shipping materials, eliminating pollutive plastic from the product lifecycle.

• Submission Beauty™ glitter is made using Bioglitter™, which has received TÜV ‘OK biodegradable WATER’ certification, the highest level of independent certification for fresh water biodegradability in the world. Made from natural and plant-derived material rather than plastic, it has been developed to biodegrade quickly and safely in the natural environment

• We’ve replaced the polyester film used in traditional cosmetic glitter with a special form of cellulose extracted from hardwoods, primarily eucalyptus sourced from responsibly managed and certified plantations operating to PEFC™ standards.‍

Submission Beauty™ balm is a plant-based product. The term “fragrance” can be used to obscure whether products include synthetic ingredients, whereas our scents are derived exclusively from natural essential oils of blood orange, bergamot and vanilla. We recommend that it be used within 6 months after opening and stored in a dry environment out of direct sunlight.

Submission Beauty™ glitter is made using Bioglitter™. As supplied in dry form, Bioglitter™ has an indefinite shelf life, provided it is stored in a dry, cool environment, out of direct sunlight, away from direct heat sources and not exposed to microorganisms. We recommend that it be used within 3 years after opening. It is free of the 14 most common food allergens, though please be aware it is not edible.
